BURNET — The Lady Dawgs earned a much-needed victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. The victory allows them to stay on pace with Llano for the final playoff spot, head coach Monica Myers said.

QUOTABLE: “Although we had a slow start in Game 1, we gained some needed momentum by the end of that game and carried that momentum into two very dominant Games 2 and 3. … As Game 5 began, we again converted offensively and stayed aggressive to complete the match with a 15-10 win,” head coach Monica Myers said.

BURNET — The Lady Dawgs beat Brownwood in all phases of the match, coaches said, noting they handled serve-receive well, played well at the net and their serves were solid. The victory was Burnet’s second against Brownwood this season.

BURNET — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade B volleyball team lost to a strong Brownwood team, coach Jeanne Jackson said.
“The girls struggled with their serves in the first game, giving Brownwood the win easily,” she said.
But the second set was different as the Lady Dawgs (2-4) came back fighting, Jackson said.
Shay Henry led the team with serves, and Julia Taylor “did an excellent job filling in as setter for her first time,” the coach said.
Burnet travels to Liberty Hill, 101 Loop 332, for a 6 p.m. contest Oct. 15.
