CEDAR PARK — A hard-hitting Cedar Park Vista Ridge team and a slow start contributed to a Marble Falls loss Sept. 21. The Lady Mustangs lost 12-25, 13-25, 22-25. Faith Academy 3, Waco Vanguard 2

MARBLE FALLS — The text messages flew Sept. 20 minutes after Faith Academy of Marble Falls’ volleyball team earned its first victory in the first year of the program. The Lady Flames beat Waco Vanguard 3-2 to snap an eight-match losing streak and force a three-way tie for third place in District 4-2A of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

“Our girls are coming along,” Lady Flames head coach Todd Still said. “They get better every week. They never quit.”

Faith won the first and second sets and had a lead in the third set but couldn’t close it out, Still said. Part of the reason is because the Lady Flames are still learning rotations and still getting comfortable in game situations, he said.

The Lady Flames have two big matches beginning Sept. 25 at Waco Texas Christian Academy, 4600 Sanger Road in Waco, with the junior varsity at 5 p.m. and the varsity to follow.

The Lady Flames welcome Cedar Park Summit to The Fire Pit on the Faith campus, three miles east of Marble Falls off RR 1431, at 6 p.m Sept. 27.

Still believes the win will help the Lady Flames for these key matches.

“The girls get better every time they play,” he said. “It’s a confidence builder.”
