Lady Stangs can’t win enough long rallies against Rouse

Leander Rouse fought back in the third set against Marble Falls after the Lady Mustangs built a small early lead. That turned the tide in favor of the Lady Raiders, who also took the fourth set to win the match 25-19, 19-25, 25-15 and 25-22.

ON OFFENSE: Haley Coulter 27 assists and 8 kills; Lacie Long 2 aces

QUOTABLE: “The girls are motivated to do well, they want to do well. They just have to learn how that feels,” Marble Falls head coach Julie Downs said.

SUBVARSITY RESULTS: Marble Falls junior varsity lost 3-25, 25-17, 20-25. Marble Falls freshmen lost 26-28, 12-25.

Burnet loses to powerhouse Fredericksburg
FREDERICKSBURG — Though the Lady Dawgs lost, they didn’t leave Fredericksburg quietly Sept. 18, falling 12-25, 6-25, 21-25.

ON DEFENSE: Digs – Riana Bond 8, Danielle Lindley 4; blocks – Sarah Poe and Cassidy Connally 5 each
SUBVARSITY RESULTS: Burnet junior varsity lost 12-25, 27-25, 17-25. Burnet freshmen lost 25-13, 25-15.
RECORDS: Burnet varsity is 3-18 overall.

Burnet 7th A sweeps Lampasas
BURNET — Tough serving proved the undoing of Lampasas on Sept. 17, and the Lady Dawgs capitalized. Burnet won 25-9, 25-5. Coaches said they were impressed with Burnet’s serving.
TOP PLAYER: Marissa Escamilla, who served 12 straight points
OUTSTANDING SERVERS: Baby Romero, Alexa Barry and Savannah McHam, 6 points each.
QUOTABLE: “I was very impressed with the serving from every single girl on the team and in every aspect of the game,” Burnet coach Holly Hafley said.

Burnet 8th B starts winning streak
BURNET — Lampasas didn’t have a chance, coaches said. The Lady Dawgs were focused and ready from the start in winning 25-20, 25-13.

Burnet 7th B bounces back to win last two sets against Lampasas
BURNET — Though the Lady Dawgs lost the first game 9-25, they wouldn’t be denied while facing Lampasas on Sept. 17.
Coach Jeanne Jackson credited Lampasas’ serving for frustrating Burnet in the first set. But the Lady Dawgs responded with their own tough serves in the second and third sets.

QUOTABLE: “The girls showed their Lady Dawg spirit by never giving up,” head coach Jeanne Jackson said.

Burnet 8th A wins second consecutive match
BURNET — After struggling with communication and serves in the opening set, the Lady Dawgs bounced back in the second game to beat Lampasas 25-19, 25-12.
TOP SERVERS: Reagan Winkler finished the match with 10 serves; Reagan Giesenschlag had 4.
QUOTABLE: “The girls shifted their momentum in the second game and played more consistently,” coach Holly Hafley said.
