Young anglers compete at Back to School Bass Blast on Lake Marble Falls

MARBLE FALLS — Faith Academy of Marble Falls junior Austin Ellis started this year’s Angler of the Year contest by winning the Back to School Bass Blast on Sept. 15 on Lake Marble Falls.

Nineteen of the 26 anglers in the Marble Falls High School club caught fish. Thirty-five bass weighed in for 59.6 pounds.

Ellis’ name was put on the Angler of the Year plaque and returned to Marble Falls High School.

Sponsor Lorna Ellis said club members and sponsors are in the process of trying to get the Student Angler Federation Texas State Championship, which was conducted in March last year. They have started talking to community and business leaders.
