William Dee McBride

William Dee McBride, 91, died Sept. 11, 2012, at the Bertram Nursing Home. He was born on Aug. 28, 1921, in Coryell County to Aaron and Daisy McBride.
He grew up and attended school in Gatesville and moved to Austin in 1939 to continue his education. While in school, he began working for Austin National Bank and spent the rest of his 39-year career there.
He served during World War II as an Army sergeant. He met and married his wife, Doris Schnabel of Burnet, before leaving for 2½ years in the European theater. This would be the only time they were ever separated during their 68 years of marriage.
The couple loved traveling and enjoyed visiting all 50 states. They lived in Austin for 62 years and were active in Westminister Presbyterian Church. He served as treasurer, deacon and elder. After moving to Burnet, they became members of Burnet Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include son David and wife Stephanie; grandchildren Scott and Kimberly; great-grandchildren Morgan, Cameron, Avery and Hayden; and nephew Mike Frazer of Austin.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at Burnet Presbyterian Church. Interment is in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and care he was given during his long fight with Parkinson’s.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bertram Nursing Home or to Burnet Presbyterian Church.
