Lady Stangs lose to Belton after finishing third at Harker Heights Pure Energy tourney
MARBLE FALLS — The Lady Mustangs had leads in all three sets against Belton on Sept. 4, but when the Lady Tigers needed a point, they usually got it.

Belton won 25-22, 25-20, 25-18. The setback is on the heels of Marble Falls finishing third at the Killeen Harker Heights Tournament thanks to beating Killeen Ellison 25-19, 15-25, 25-22. They also beat Manor 21-25, 25-22, 25-23 but lost to Killeen Harker Heights 20-25, 16-25.

QUOTABLE: “We did some good things, but we didn’t play as tough on defense as they did,” Marble Falls head coach Julie Downs said.

Lady Dawgs lose to Leander Vandegrift at VolleyPalooza tourney
BURNET — Burnet decided to play up in facing Leander Vandegrift, a member of District 25-4A, and lost 10-25, 18-25, 16-25.
The Lady Dawgs finished the recent VolleyPalooza Tournament with a 1-5 record, defeating Crowley 25-21, 25-20.
ON OFFENSE: Mariah Qualls and Cassidy Connally, 4 kills each; Danielle Lindley 8 assists; Sarah Poe 5 assists; Qualls, Connally and Lindley 1 ace each
ON DEFENSE: Riana Bond and Poe 6 digs each
RECORDS: Burnet is 2-15.

Llano second in Fight Bracket at VolleyPalooza tourney
CEDAR PARK — The Lady Jackets won their last three matches of the tournament, beating Crowley 25-12, 25-19, Cleburne 22-25, 25-19, 25-11 and Bastrop 25-15, 25-14. Llano lost to Austin St. Michael’s 22-25, 20-25, Austin Anderson 26-28, 16-25, Poth 16-25, 15-25, Savio 26-28, 15-25, Austin Bowie, 16-25, 17-25, Round Rock McNeil 13-25, 17-25 and Bastrop 25-15, 25-14.
“We executed like we were supposed to,” Llano head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said. “We regained our confidence and played as a team. It was good to end the day with deserved win(s).”
