Marble Falls fishing club to conduct angler program for kids, families at Inks Lake on Aug. 11

BURNET — The Marble Falls High School bass fishing club will conduct a youth angler education program at Inks Lake on Aug. 11.

The Junior Angler Education program begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at noon at the north pier. It is free with a park entrance fee of $6 per person.

The park is located at 3630 Park Road 4 West.

Club sponsor Lorna Ellis said the program provides the curriculum, equipment, materials and support to introduce youth ages 5 and up and their families to fishing.

She added that participants should wear comfortable clothing for outdoor activities and bring bottled water.

Participants will learn about:

• fish and fish habitat

• rods, reels lures and baits

• knot tying

• assembling basic tackle

• regulations and ethics

• safe casting

Children who complete the program will receive a Junior Angler Certificate and pin, Ellis said.

Refreshments will be served after the program.
