Marble Falls fishing club to conduct angler program for kids, families at Inks Lake on Aug. 11
BURNET — The Marble Falls High School bass fishing club will conduct a youth angler education program at Inks Lake on Aug. 11.
The Junior Angler Education program begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at noon at the north pier. It is free with a park entrance fee of $6 per person.
The park is located at 3630 Park Road 4 West.
Club sponsor Lorna Ellis said the program provides the curriculum, equipment, materials and support to introduce youth ages 5 and up and their families to fishing.
She added that participants should wear comfortable clothing for outdoor activities and bring bottled water.
Participants will learn about:
• fish and fish habitat
• rods, reels lures and baits
• knot tying
• assembling basic tackle
• regulations and ethics
• safe casting
Children who complete the program will receive a Junior Angler Certificate and pin, Ellis said.
Refreshments will be served after the program.
