Savage and her horse, Chexable, placed second in Stock Horse Trail out of 109 competitors, which earned her a Reserve Champion belt buckle. She brought home a buckle for fifth in the reining competition out of 77 riders and finished sixth in Stock Horse Pleasure out of 97 participants, capturing a third buckle.

Savage’s partners in the team penning were Jacey Smathers and Mekaila Castro, both from Llano County.

Zach Haydon, with his horse, Wicked Smart, was the champion in Stock Horse Pleasure out of 97 entries, which earned him a buckle and a custom embroidered director’s chair. He placed eighth out of 109 riders in the Stock Horse Trail, which also earned him a top 10 buckle.

He and Savage each competed in the working cow horse and cutting events as well.

Haydon and his brothers, Jarrett and Luke Haydon, advanced to the second round of team penning.

Jarrett Haydon also performed with his horse, Shirley Temper, in working cow and cutting, while Luke Haydon rode Bedevils Lil Lena in cutting and stock horse trail.

Zinn Lindsey was a former all-around champion from Aspermont, who was killed in a car accident in late May 2012, his senior year. The scholarship was established through the 4-H Foundation and is awarded each year to the High Point Stock Horse Champion.
