Myrtle “Lady Bug” Watson, 98, died July 12, 2012. She was born in Springs, Tenn., on Feb. 20, 1914, to Samuel S. and Arminta Crass.

She was a delight to everyone who knew her.

She grew up in Eastern Tennessee near Knoxville, the second of four children. She helped raise her two younger siblings while her parents ran a grocery store. She also was a member of her high school basketball team.

She met the love of her life, Ralph Watson, and married him on Jan. 18, 1934. They were married for more than 50 years and had two children, Jack and Judy.

In 1949, the couple bought a grocery store in Powell, Tenn., where they worked side by side for the next 20 years. After retiring from the grocery business, they moved to North Palm Beach, Fla., and enjoyed warm weather year-round. A year after her husband died in 1984, she moved to San Antonio to be with her daughter and family and later to Highland Haven. In May 2011, she moved to Gateway Gardens in Marble Falls.

Survivors include son Jack and wife Patricia of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter Judy Tiller and husband Ray of Highland Haven; grandchildren Terri Haecker and husband David and Mike Tiller and wife Ada, all of Austin, Bradley Watson and wife Janalin of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Amanda Duncan of Beaverton, Oregon; and great-grandchildren Kevin Haecker and wife Joanna, Ryan Haecker, Meghan Haecker, Christopher Tiller, Katie Tiller, Elana Watson, Joel Watson and Bethany Watson.

Visitation was July 14 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 in Marble Falls (830) 693-4373. A celebration of life service and interment will be held in Powell, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund in Marble Falls or to a charity of choice.
