Raymond C. Palmour, 82, of Sunrise Beach, formerly of Burnet, died July 5, 2012. He was born in Tehuacana on Nov. 30, 1929, to Stephen Roy and Sarah Gifford Palmour.

He graduated from Taft High School and Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, with a degree in education. He played football at Taft, Delmar College and Southwest Texas State and for the Marine Corp.

He was an aircraft mechanic and tech sergeant in the Marine Corp. He taught and coached for more than 30 years, many of those in Burnet. He was active in the National Rifle Association, Veterans Affairs and the American Legion.

Survivors include daughter Roxanne Palmour Gosch and husband Mark; sons Stephen Palmour and wife Kathlleen and Aaron Palmour and wife Shirley; brother Gayland James Palmour and wife Connie; and 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Vernelle Palmour on April 27 and sister Betty Marble.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. July 21 at First United Methodist Church in Burnet.
