Betty Gentry, 87, of Granite Shoals died June 12, 2011. She was born in Altus, Okla., on Nov. 17, 1923.

She married Bob Gentry in Oklahoma City in 1958.

She was an administrative assistant for Cambre in Houston until her retirement. She became active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Granite Shoals, serving as treasurer.

She was known by her friends as being fun and compassionate. Her tender heart led her to rescue many homeless animals.

Survivors include her husband; daughters Dorothy Carol Gallant of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Frances Grayliss of Granite Shoals; grandchildren Jason Grayliss of Willis, Jennifer Kouri of Denver and Charles Grayliss of Boulder, Colo.; sisters Dorothy Braly, Catherine Mitchell and May Scoggins, all of Denton; and nephew Steve Wiley of Thousand Oaks, Calif.

A service is 2 p.m. June 28 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4303, 6929 RR 1431 West in Granite Shoals.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, an organization that helps people.
