Eavie Irene Stone

Eavie Irene Stone, 102, of Burnet died June 16, 2012. She was born on Dec. 12, 1909, in Richards, Grimes County, to Thomas Franklin and Minnie Lee Wilson Johnson.
She married Ruel Victor “R.V.” Stone on Jan. 14, 1932, in Gatesville. Up until her death, they were married 80 years. After their wedding, they enjoyed farm life before moving to the Houston area, where they resided for many years before moving to Burnet in the mid-1950s.

She taught Sunday school classes and worked in vacation Bible schools and church camps. On Oct. 12, 1975, they joined First Baptist Church of Burnet, where she was president of the TEL Sunday school class.
The couple enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and were avid gardeners who kept their freezer full. She enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder and was also a fine seamstress.
Survivors include her husband R.V. and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Charlene; several brothers and sisters; and longtime friends Carl and Mildred Schlomach.
