Leroy Rode

Leroy Rode, 84, died June 8, 2012, in Fredericksburg. He was born in Fredericksburg on Oct. 14, 1927, to Regu and Ida (Dittmar) Rode.
He married Margaret Tatsch on Aug. 3, 1949, in Harper.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Castell and also served for many years with the Castell Volunteer Fire Department. He was the HCLRA cowboy of the year in 1994 and was a member of the German Men’s Choir in Mason that sang hymns in German, which he enjoyed.
Survivors include daughters Rhonda Perkins and husband Tommy of Llano and Ranae Knust and husband Reinhold of West; grandchildren Sarah Matthys and husband Bradley and Aaron and Cole Perkins; great-granddaughter Kindra EllaMarie Matthys; sisters Helen Hoffmann, Emy Stubblefield, Marion Stewart, Rosy Neumann, Idabelle Erickson and Irene Merz; and brother Andrew Rode.
He was preceded in death by wife Margaret; his parents; and brother David Rode.
A graveside service is 3 p.m. June 10 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Castell with the Rev. Scott Hofmann officiating.
