Daniel Craig Ortego

Daniel Craig Ortego, 60, of Spicewood died June 9, 2012. He was born in Ville Platte, La., on Sept. 18, 1951, to Van and Betty Ortego.
He enjoyed talking about his Cajun heritage and had a great love of the outdoors and the Hill Country. He had many interests, including camping, boating, windsurfing, scuba diving and waterskiing. He also enjoyed snowskiing, derby cars and horseback riding.
He loved his family and always looked forward to annual reunions.
He was a union brother of Sprinkler Pipe Fitters 669 and a 10-year member of Terry’s Texas Rangers 8th Calvary Division Co. F.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Karen Ortego; daughter Kendra Nelson and husband Jordan; mother Betty Harwell and husband Randy; brothers Charles Ortego and wife Loretta and Dwain Ortego and wife Barbara; sisters Karen Vidrine and husband Clarence, Libby Guillory and Genie Kruszynsky and husband Mitch; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Van; brother Bennie; and nephew Justin.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. June 13 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A service is 10 a.m. June 14 at the funeral home with interment at Fall Creek Cemetery.
