Juanita ‘Nita’ Maida, 87, of Granite Shoals died May 4, 2012. She was born July 22, 1924, in Beaumont to Crawford S. and Marguerite Derutte Marshall.

She lived in Beaumont for many years withe her husband, attorney Joseph Maida. She was a kind and loving person, and a good businesswoman in the jewelry trade in Houston and the Highland Lakes.

She had excellent taste in jewelry, decorating and fashion. She loved her home, cats and flowers, and was independent like her cats until the last. She was a real Texas lady who will be missed.

Survivors include sister Barbara Loper and husband Carl of Beaumont; daughter Janie Spear and husband Tommy of Granite Shoals; son Tom Hare and wife Kris of Seattle; grandchildren Ramie Griffin of Granite Shoals, Grant Hare of Beaumont and Amanda Reeder of Georgetown; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister Joyce Argo; and grandson Brian Maida.

A celebration of life service is 11 a.m. June 6 at the Edgar Funeral Home chapel, 2105 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-5808.
