Charles William Ritter
Charles William Ritter, 93, died May 16, 2012. He was born March 11, 1919, in Dayton, Texas. A longtime resident of Hardin, he lived in Marble Falls for many years until moving to Linden, Tenn., in 2007.
At the time of his death, he was a resident of Westwood Health Care Center in Decaturville, Tenn.
He was a veteran of World War II and earned the rank of master sergeant in the Army. He served in combat in the Pacific Theater, where he earned a Bronze Star Medal.
He was a carpenter, mechanic and then electrician and welder until his retirement. Also, he was active in the Masonic Lodge in Liberty before moving to the Hill Country, where he attended two lodges.
He had more than 50 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid gun enthusiast, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a gifted metal lathe hobbyist.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Ritter Hogan and husband Clifford of Kirbyville; sons Charles Richard “Rick” Ritter and wife Paula of Bullard, and William Duane Ritter and his wife Diane of Linden, Tenn.; grandchildren Robin Dodson of Kirbyville, Audrey Hogan of Dallas, Marine Staff Sgt. Lance Ritter of 29 Palms, Calif., and Marine Lance Cpl. Quentin Ritter of Bullard; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Leola Stephens Ritter; daughter Carolyn Sue Ritter Trahan; and grandson Jason Cole Robertson.
A graveside service is 2 p.m. May 21 at Marble Falls City Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Homeyer officiating.
