Marion ‘Slim’ Collins
Marion “Slim” Collins, 70, died April 12, 2012, in an Austin hospital. He was born in Jacksonville on Jan. 19, 1942, to Marion Stephen and Ellen Lee Thornton Collins.
He graduated from McCallium High School and attended Austin Community College. He married Billie Ann Garner in 1968.
He was employed by the Department of Public Safety and was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Austin.
Survivors include his wife; brother Charles Wayne Collins and wife Sandy of Dayton; nephews Mark and Steven Collins; and numerous other family members.
Pallbearers include Johnnie Garner, Jack Garner, Jimmy Mabry, Steven Collins, Mark Collins, Neal Abbott and Andrew Burton.
A service is 2 p.m. April 14 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444, with interment to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
