J.E. “Erby” Garrett, 82, of Marble Falls died April 9, 2012, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He was born in Fairland on Jan. 3, 1930, to A. Grover and Janie Mae (Ferguson) Garrett.

He attended the one-room school in Travis Peak through the eighth grade and completed high school in Lampasas. He married Mary Lou Singleton on June 6, 1952.

He worked various jobs in support of his primary occupation as a rancher. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He was a lifelong, diligent Bible student, whose strong belief in God was evidenced by his leading and serving as an elder in the Church of Christ in Travis Peak.

Survivors include wife Mary Lou; children Jim and Deborah Garrett, Cathy and Jeff Felps and Joel Garrett, all of Marble Falls; grandchildren Crystal Emsoff and husband Scott, Wesley Garrett, Russell Garrett, Travis Felps and Trevor Felps; great-grandchild Skylar Emsoff; and sister Ethel Singleton of Marble Falls.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. April 13 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A service is 2 p.m. April 14 at the Church of Christ in Travis Peak with interment following at Singleton Family Cemetery.
