Doris Maurine Knight Liming, 82, died March 29, 2012, in Round Rock after losing her battle to cancer.

She was born in Luling Aug. 3, 1929, to W. T. Knight and Artie Lois Williams Knight. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1938 where she grew up with her brother James.

She married Earl “Gordon” Liming on April 8, 1960, in Mexico. After spending a year and a half living in Illinois, they returned to Corpus Christi and then moved to Burnet in 1971 where she remained until her death.

She had a “varied life,” throwing herself completely into everything she did, from selling shoes to working as a TV station projectionist and assistant manager. She also styled wigs, made leather arm guards and manufactured bow and gun cases.

She co-owned with her husband Gordon’s Custom Cases in Burnet.  Her passion was archery and she was the third woman ever to shoot 500 in Texas and join the “500 Club."

In addition to her husband of Burnet, survivors include brother James Knight and wife Ann of Burnet; nephew Ricky Knight and wife Gay of Corpus Christi; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; five great-great nieces; and two great-great-nephews.

A graveside service and interment was April 2 at the Burnet City Cemetery with the Rev. Dawn Rosignol officiating.

Honorary pallbearers included Ricky Knight, Tim Hunziker, Joe Jackson, John Henry Calhoun, Dale Young and T.J. Hunziker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), P.O. Box 872, Burnet, TX 78611.
