Bobby Franklin Simpson

Bobby Franklin Simpson, 83, of Bertram died March 30, 2012. He was born April 8, 1928, in Leander to the Rev. Denton Elvin Simpson and Elvie Vera Simpson.
He grew up in Leander. He spent his youth working and being on farms that his parents and grandparents had.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and later the Air Force. He served during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Guam.
He started training as a police cadet with the Austin Police Department April 13, 1962, and was commissioned an officer Sept. 21, 1962. During his career he was eventually assigned to Centralized Investigations and was a lieutenant when he retired on Dec. 30, 1983.
During the latter part of his career he served on the first local five-county Organized Crime Unit. After his retirement from the APD, he worked with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office and enjoyed traveling and spending time working on his place.
He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing instruments that he built. He was a Master Mason and Past Master of the Masonic Lodges in Bertram and Lake Victor.
He also was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Bertram.
Survivors include his wife Gladys; son Denton Lynn Simpson and wife Fay P. Simpson of Round Rock; daughter Diane L. Williams and husband Errol of Lampasas; granddaughters Allison Ehrman and husband Steve of Maryland and Adria Williams and husband Robert of Washington state; great-grandchildren Joel and Ian Tokarchik of Maryland and Tristen Williams, Robert E. Williams and Erika Williams of Washington; and sisters Judy Luker of Victoria, Jane Dunham of Refugio and Dorothy Feuerbacher of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. April 3 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. April 4 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Bergstrom officiating.
Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.
Pallbearers include Philip Boring, Billy Evans, Jerry Boatright, Ken Polk, Bill Coker, Robert Williams and Steve Ehrman.
The honorary pallbearer is Don Bryant.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Bertram.
