Wilford "Bill" Booth Burks Jr., 88, died March 22, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born in Davidson, Okla., on March 18, 1924, to Tommie Pearl and Wilford B. Burks.

His early years were spent farming with his father. He attended Oklahoma A&M and served in the 99th Division of the Army during World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. After he completed his military service, he was employed by Dow Chemical and became vice-president of Dow Chemical Computers Worldwide.

His happiest years were spent in Horseshoe Bay, enjoying his family and friends, gardening, playing tennis and cooking.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wenona; sons Roy Wilford and wife Marianne and Richard Boothe and wife Karin; grandchildren Marine Staff Sgt. Matthew Wilford and wife Britni, Katheren Burks Johnson and husband James, Ryan Shea Burks and Ashley Shea Burks; and great-grandson Cade Philip Burks Ortega.

A graveside service was March 27 at Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum with Pete Christy officiating.
