Marble Falls soccer games called due to lightning; postponed to March 5

MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School athletic officials postponed the girls and boys varsity soccer matches between Marble Falls and Cedar Park Vista Ridge to March 5 because of lightning Feb. 17, when the games were originally scheduled.

The girls will play at home March 5, while the boys will be at Vista Ridge.

The Lady Mustangs matchup was called midway through the first half tied 0-0 Feb. 17.

The decision was especially disheartening for Lady Mustangs head coach Paulette Moczygemba because she believes her squad (2-8-3, 0-2) would have won the contest.

“I could just tell,” she said.

Had the game reached halftime, University Interschloastic League rules state the team with the most goals would be awarded the victory.

The Mustangs (4-9, 0-2) didn’t even start their contest against the Rangers, head coach Michael Nave said, but the Marble Falls junior varsity team’s game against Vista Ridge ended in a 1-1 tie.
