Stephen Ray Shurbet

Stephen Ray Shurbet, 61, died Feb. 13, 2012, at Buck Spring Ranch in Llano County. He was born Oct. 9, 1950, to Charles Matthew and Myrtle Oletha Shurbet.
He was generous, good-natured and the best friend anyone could have. He loved people and treated them to good home-cooked meals of fried fish, spaghetti made to perfection, outstanding chicken and dressing, smoked brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken with all the trimmings.
He also made himself available to anyone who needed a favor, big or small. He endeared himself to people from all walks of life. He was always ready to lend a hand and quick to follow through.
He admired pretty ladies, honest men and a good horse. Little children and old dogs found him irresistible. He was a home-loving family man who cherished every plant and animal that grew on God’s Earth.
The most important aspect of his life was his worship and service to our loving God and creator, Jehovah. He willingly gave of himself in the ministry and in his daily devotion and conduct as a loyal witness.
Survivors include his mother; daughters Deanna Renee Bollier and Leslie Kay Stanford and husband Mason; son Stephen James Shurbet; brothers Charles Dean Shurbet of Austin and Rickey Carl Shurbet of New Boston; sister Sue Ceynowa of Llano; grandchildren Bryan Lane Smith, Daylon Ray Smith and Logan Everett Stanford.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300, with Gene Stanford officiating.
