Cathy Counts Douglass, 56, of Marble Falls died Feb. 11, 2012, after a more than two-year battle against breast cancer. She was born Dec. 17, 1955, in Corpus Christi to Jim and Barbara Counts.

She grew up in Midland and, after spending a few years in Corpus Christi, she made her life in Marble Falls at age 22. She built her home and raised her two girls on Avenue G.

She was a valuable employee at Frank Smith Trucking, Marble Falls Supply and the Highland Lakes Board of Realtors before working for the Burnet County Adult Probation Office. She retired in December.

She loved life and enjoyed taking drives, dancing or just sitting on the deck with her husband. She also loved shopping and hanging out with her two girls and almost any activity with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, cooking and photography.

Although she never allowed cancer to define who she was, she took pride in being able to help others with the disease. She donated her time and energy to the local Relay for Life.

Survivors include husband Tom Douglass; daughters Nicki Hernandez and husband Dominic and Casie Wills and fiancé Brett Walker; grandchildren Gage and Rylee Hernandez; mother Barbara; sisters Carrie Wittliff and husband David, Connie Simmons and husband Clay and Cindy Jamar and husband Jerry; brothers Vic Counts and wife Donna and Matt Counts and wife Amy; several aunts and uncles; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents H.G. and Eva Jo Counts and Vic and Ruth Cours.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Church of Christ, 711 Broadway in Marble Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or a local Relay for Life team.
