Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Timothy D. Sims, 58, died Feb. 8, 2012, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on Nov. 5, 1953.

He served as a fighter pilot for the Air Force and the New Mexico Air National Guard and was a member of the 150th Fighter Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked for Southwest Airlines as a pilot.

His favorite sport was off-road racing.

Survivors include sons Brandon Sims and wife Nelleka, Ryan Sims and Logan Sims; their mother Sharon Sims; brother Ron Sims; sister Holly Baker; and mother-in-law Etta McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Dorothy Sims.

A graveside service is 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Llano City Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Breeden officiating.
