Charley Andrew Parks Sr., 86, died Feb. 6, 2012.

He was born in Altus, Okla., Nov. 25, 1925. His family moved to King Fisher, Okla., where he grew up and attended school. He joined the Navy at 17 and came out of the service when he was 20. He finished his high school diploma. He attended Business College in Oklahoma City, where he eventually joined the civil service at Tinker Field that led to a 30-year career.

He had a stint at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin and married Barbara in February 1952. They raised their children in San Antonio and Leander.

He had many hobbies and loved camping, hunting and the great outdoors. He was a Christian family man and was loved by many. He lived most of his adult life around the Austin area. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include children Charles Andrew Parks Jr. and wife Nancy of Oak Hill, Sharon Kay Barnes and husband Guy Barnes III of Lakeway, and Basil Lyn Parks and wife Jena of Leander; grandchildren Dawn Marie Murphy of High Springs, Fla., Sgt. Guy Barnes IV of Fort Benning, Ga., Basil Parks Jr. of Austin, Tiffany Georgiefski of Pearland, and Whitney and Andrew Parks of Oak Hill.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

A funeral service is 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home chapel, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.
