Mary Ann Witter, 75, of Buchanan Dam died Jan. 31, 2012, at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock. She was born in San Marcos on May 6, 1936, to George and Lou Brubaker.

Her father had been the county attorney in Llano and, at the time of his death, was the city attorney in San Marcos. She was an infant at the time, and her sister was only 5 years old. During her younger years, the family consisted of her mother, her sister and herself.
She attended schools in San Marcos and graduated from Austin High School.

She worked for many years as a coordinator for grocery demonstrations and as
an Avon representative. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She married Alistair Cowe. After his death, she married her childhood sweetheart, Webster Witter. They were happily married for almost 40 years until his death.

Survivors include children Haicha Russell and husband David and Andrew Cowe and wife Jennifer; grandchildren John Cowe and wife Ginger and Chelsea Kolodziej and husband Chris; sister Ellen Spiller and husband Sam; sister-in-law Betty Davis and husband Ferrell; and stepdaughter Wanda Andreas and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son David Cowe; and stepson Warren Russell "Rusty" Witter.
A service was Feb. 4 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A graveside service followed at the Pursley Family Cemetery near Dripping Springs.
