Billy “Bill” Ray Haywood, 57, of Burnet lost his battle with cancer Feb. 2, 2012, in Round Rock.

He will be missed by many friends and loved ones. He loved being outside fishing and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed family and friends.

He traveled all his life as a truck driver, as well as journeying to Texas, Arizona and Mississippi to visit everyone. He was happiest when everyone would get together and he could cook huge dinners.

Survivors include his ex-wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Haywood; daughter Billie Jean Pitts and son-in-law Rodney of Collinsville, Miss.; sons Jason Haywood and daughter-in-law Carrie and Kevin Haywood, all of Burnet; sister Doris Hughes and brother-in-law Fred of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brother Roy Haywood of Florida; grandchildren Cody Pitts, Mollee Dykes, Emily Pitts, Bradley Haywood and Candace Pitts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lillie Haywood and brother Hoyte Haywood, all of Lumberton, N.C.

A graveside service was Feb. 4 at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet.

The family thanks the nurses and staff of Lighthouse Hospice and the intensive care unit at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock for the compassion they provided him during his last days.
