Lesslie Clayton Gardner

Lesslie Clayton Gardner, 69, of Kingsland died Feb. 3, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Weldon V. and Jaunell (Foster) Gardner on Oct. 8, 1942, in Baird.
He had been a lifelong visitor and resident of the Highland Lakes. His family vacationed in the area when he was a child and he became a full-time resident when he retired. He served in the Navy.
He retired from Frito-Lay and later became a co-owner of Sweet Things Bakery. He married Joyce Johnson April 20, 1992, in Elko, Nevada. He loved saltwater and freshwater fishing and also was an ace dart and shuffleboard player.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
In addition to his wife of 19 years, survivors include children Dwayne Gardner and wife Priscilla of Devine, Dana Bell and husband Bill of Boerne, Jared Middleton of Rockport, Jay Middleton and wife Shelia of Florence; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Sherron Reinemund and partner Rowell Coleman of Kingsland, brother Dahlen Gardner and wife Kellye of Katy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Feb. 7 at Putnam Funeral Home & Crematory, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008 with Ron Kirby officiating.
