Marble Falls girls soccer team ties Austin Akins
MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team tied Austin Akins 1-1 Jan. 31.
Freshman Britney Deering scored the goal off a crossing pass from freshman Megan Morgan.
“It felt good,” Deering said. “We worked a lot better.”
One of the areas Deering believes the team has improved on is passing.
She has moved to midfielder, which means she is able to distribute the ball to teammates.
Another teammate, freshman Shelby Wyatt, said she is learning her new position as a defender.
“I’m liking it a lot better,” she said.
She has played wing since she first started playing the sport years ago. The difference is she doesn’t have to run the entire field anymore, she said.
“You learn all the transitions with defense,” she said.
Marble Falls (1-6-3) hosts Fredericksburg 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.
