Marvin Lee Mohler Sr., 81, of Liberty Hill died Jan. 26, 2012. He was born in Kyle on Dec. 19, 1930, to Carl and Maudie Cunningham Mohler. He grew up in Austin.

He was a painter by trade and retired after more than 30 years at John Parker Painting Co.

He loved fishing and camping and taught his six kids how to fish, camp and survive. He was an extraordinary ball player and an avid bowler. He could dance the night away and had the ladies standing in line waiting to cut a rug with him on that sawdust dance floor.

He ran a good race and crossed the finish line a winner.

Survivors include his children Calvin Lee Mohler and wife Mary of Burnet, Marvin Lee Mohler Jr. of Liberty Hill, Robert Carl Mohler and wife Katherine of Madeira Beach, Fla., Doris Ann Payea of Milton, Vt., Mark Dewayne Mohler and wife Cassandra of Weatherford and Anna Marie McAdoo and husband Thomas "Dooley" of Heidenheimer; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Margaret Ann Ward; and second wife Ivy "Tootie" Cowan Mohler. 
A graveside service is 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at Liberty Hill Cemetery. A small reception will follow at his home in Liberty Hill.
