William Henry Buth

William Henry Buth, 92, of Highland Haven died Jan. 6, 2012. He was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1919, the oldest of four children. He was the son of William J. and Sylvia Pauline (Kagel) Buth.
When World War II began, he was the first young man from Colorado Springs, Colo., to enlist the day mobilization and registration for the draft were ordered. After the war, he remained in the service for 22 years. He retired Oct. 31, 1963, as a lieutenant colonel.
Before leaving the service, he purchased a small business franchise in the as-yet undeveloped Colorado market. Known as General Business Services, the company offered accountant and comptroller services to small businesses.
He retired from the company as divisional vice-president in 1985.
He visited the Hill Country during the winter months for many years prior to moving to the area permanently in 1996 after marrying Norma Jean Airhart.
He joined Highland Lakes United Methodist Church in 1996, where he was an active member.
His interests included fishing, and playing golf and bridge with friends he made in the Marble Falls area. He also enjoyed traveling, reading and watching old movies.
In addition to his wife of 16 years, survivors include sisters Sylvia Ambrosia and Audrey Moulton; daughter Sandra and her husband David Forehand; stepson Glen Airhart and his wife Donna; stepdaughters Judy and husband Roger Mezick and Brenda and husband Paul Parker; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Russell James Buth; and his first wife Lera.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 11 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.
A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church with Grady Roe officiating.
Burial will be 3 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
