Patsy Ann Mathis Burnes, 80, of Kingsland died Jan. 4, 2012. She was born in Post on June 23, 1931, to Jack Robert and Mary Bell Lloyd Mathis.

On Sept. 12, 1948, she married R.V. Burnes in Lynn County.

Her hobbies included needle-point, gardening, painting and floral design. She was the first proprietor of Kingsland Florist.

Her true passion was being a public servant to numerous churches and surrounding communities. She was a charter member of Highland Lakes Baptist Church and Alpha Theta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International.

Survivors include sons Ron Burnes and wife Anabel of Kingsland and Roy Burnes and wife Arzenet of Eden; daughter Cindy Miller and husband Darryl of Kingsland; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two months and 13 days by her husband; parents; a brother; and great-great-grandson Tristyn Ross.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 6 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. A service is 10 a.m. Jan. 7 at First Baptist Church, 3435 RR 1431 West in Kingsland, with the reverends Ron Langley and Dwight Reagan officiating. A graveside service is 3 p.m. at Long Cove Cemetery in Lometa.

Pallbearers include Jim Barton, Truitt Wren, John Raschke, Mark Chapman, Clarence Yarter and Danny Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Lakes Baptist Church in Kingsland.
