BETWEEN THE LINES: The Night Before Christmas 2011

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the land

The Republicans are scurrying trying to find their man.

The candidates are numerous, they all have their flaws

Washington is waiting their arrival to pass some more laws.

The Democrats are not laughing, they have problems of their own

The economy is tanking, their future unknown.

The debt is still mounting with no end in sight

The spending continues by day and by night.

The voters are restless, some out of work

Americans think politicians are nothing but jerks.

Congress sees nothing wrong giving taxpayer’s money away

But trouble will follow just as night follows day.

Someday their sins will come home to roost

Without the aid of even a push or a boost.

Their selfishness and greed have driven us amuck

It appears that our country has run out of luck.

The North Pole is closing, Santa has gone far away

The federal government has taken over much to our dismay.

Thankfully, greater than entitlements is God’s benevolent grace

One day the rapture will see Christians vanish without a trace.

This world is not their home, they are merely passing through

Their treasure awaits them somewhere beyond the blue.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
