Avalon Vest Faris

Avalon Vest Faris, 93, a former longtime Arlington resident, died Dec. 17, 2011, in Fort Worth after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Harve and Otha Bill Vest and was born in Llano County on Sept. 21, 1918.
She attended attended public schools in Llano and graduated from Llano High School in 1936.
She married Wendell Faris on Oct. 12, 1940, in Mason. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was very proud of her entire family, but especially her grandchildren. Survivors include daughter Jo Lowe and husband David of Maypearl; son Vinsen Faris and wife Pam of Godley; granddaughter Wende Upchurch and husband Owen of Maypearl; grandsons Gannon Lowe of Maypearl and Brian Shollenberger and wife Tara of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister.
Visitation is 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at Waldrop-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A graveside service follows at 1 p.m. in Llano Cemetery in Llano. The family requests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties, 106 E. Kilpatrick, Cleburne, TX 76031.
