BURNET — Recent rains led Burnet County officials to lift the outdoor burn ban.

The County Commissioners shelved the ban during the meeting Nov. 22. Rainfall drenched most of the county in the wee morning hours.

Residents still should call the Sheriff’s Office before burning, as well as their local fire department, officials said.

As per county guidelines, burning is allowed no earlier than one hour after sunrise until no later than one hour before sunset.

Individuals conducting a burn must stay with the fire at all times until it is extinguished. The burn must be controlled with water, a shovel or other equipment, officials said.

Call the Sheriff’s Office at (512) 756-8080 or visit www.burnetcountytexas.org for more.
