Wanda Emma Detlefs, 99, of Tow died Nov. 16, 2011.

She was born in Boerne Aug. 7, 1912. From the early 1930s, she and her husband lived in Odessa where he worked for Exxon.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Llano.

She lived in the Tow community for 37 years, where she was greatly respected and loved. Her mission in life was to be sure that no one went hungry. At the least suggestion of need, she sent plates of food and her endless supply of cookies was legendary.

Survivors include many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and cousin Deanna Mauldin of Johnson City, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband T.W. “Johnny” Detlefs in 1988; parents Otto and Ida Scharmann; and brother Edwin Scharmann in 1977.

Visitation was Nov. 18 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.

A funeral service was Nov. 19 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stan Wright officiating,

Burial followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.

Pallbearers included Tom Scott, Lonnie Scott, Kevin King, Patrick Tinley, Tommy Scharmann, Brice Scharmann, Scott Tinley, Scott Piercy and Logan Bishop.

Honorary pallbearers included Guy Maulden, Jim Scharmann, Jack Spivey and Allyn Piercy.
