Alice ‘Elisa’ Guzman
Alice ‘Elisa’ Guzman, 77, died Nov. 15, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born in Liberty Hill on July 19, 1934, to Emilio and Matilde Perez Felan.
She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for her favorite quote: “I live for my grandchildren.”
She was the “rock” of her family and led with strength and courage. As a loving compassionate mother, she raised her family with integrity, morality and love. Her favorite thing was to cook for her family.
Survivors include her children Mary Zamorano and husband Alfonso of Corona, Calif., Joe Guzman and wife Susie and Roberta Werner and husband Steve, all of Bertram, Joel Guzman and wife Ramona of Leisure City, Fla., Debbie Guzman of Dallas, Beatrice Guzman of Burnet, Peggy Negron and husband Rob of Philadelphia, Judy Torres of Burnet and Jonathan Guzman and wife Claudia of Yucca Valley, Calif.; 57 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Frias of Austin and Lois Escamilla and husband Paul of Bertram; and brother Ralph Felan and wife Frances of Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Angel Guzman; sons Jerry Guzman and James Guzman; grandsons Justin Guzman, Tommy Pantoja, Cleo Scott Flynn Jr., James Werner and Daniel Torres; sister Linda Felan; and brother Emilio Felan.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at First Baptist Church, 325 S. Gabriel in Bertram, with the Rev. Gordon Bergstrom officiating. A private burial will be held at the Guadalupe Cemetery in Georgetown.
