Big shots get big bucks, prizes in Burnet County hunting contest

BURNET — The Burnet County 4-H Ag & Natural Resource Group teamed up area businesses for the Burnet County Big Buck Contest on Nov. 5.
Winners in the youth division (ages 16 and younger) include:
• First place: Ty Riley of Burnet won a shoulder mount courtesy of Robert and Kathy Griffith of Griffith Taxidermy in Burnet with a 112-pound, 10-point buck.

• Second place: Alex DeFily of Burnet won a Marlin 243 deer rifle with a 97-pound, 10-point buck.
• Jack Dillard of Kingsland won a knife from Tony Adams Custom Knife with a 97-pound, nine-point buck.
Winners in the adult division (ages 17 and older) include:
• First place: Del Hyatt won a shoulder mount from Griffith Taxidermy.
• Second place: Doug McMillan won a limited edition Texas Ranger knife courtesy of Tony Adams Custom Knife.
