Harold Edward Schwartz Jr.
Harold Edward Schwartz Jr., 93, of Meadowlakes died Oct. 30, 2011. He was born in Wichita, Kan., on Sept. 25, 1918, to Harold Edward Sr. and Maude (Ripkin) Schwartz.
He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering.
He served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1943. In February 1942, he shipped out on the Queen Mary in the first contingent of American troops to Port Moresby, Papua, New Guinea, where they established the main airbase at 7 Mile Airdrome.
For the next 40 years, he worked with Mobil Oil.
Survivors include his wife Helen Schwartz; daughters Penny Glover and husband Bob and Sylvia Guapo and husband Mike; grandchildren Michele Pfender, Steffanie Winter, Laura Alabed, Tonya Ray, Richard Glover and Brian Glover; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Nov. 2 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A graveside service is 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 in Burnet, with Pastor Danielle Casey officiating.
