Marjorie Janis Page Oberholtzer, 84, died in Rifle, Colo., on Oct. 26, 2011. She was born on April 19, 1927, in Del Norte, Colo., the daughter of Lloyd and Beulah Page.

She married the late Jack Gredig and had two daughters, Cynthia Lynn Anderson of Falls Church, Va., and Claudia Sue Means of Buffalo, Wyo.

In 1960, she married Carol Oberholtzer and added three stepchildren to her family — Ann Cantrell of Plano, Sharon Kay Compton of Paonia, Colo., and C. Edward Oberholtzer of Norwalk, Conn.

She and Carol Oberholtzer made homes in Vista, Calif., and Marble Falls, then retired to Rifle, Colo. She loved to play golf and became a very active member of the Women’s Organization at Rifle Creek Golf Course, serving as president for several years.

She founded the Three-Day Invitational Tournament and was chairwoman for years.  She was club champion several times, and won many amateur tournaments around the country over the years.

She was a very devoted member of the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church, serving on its board of trustees and finance committee. She was a mainstay in the United Methodist Women’s group, serving as president and using her gifts of organization, hospitality and creativity to make their many functions very special. She was well-known for her gift of decorating, spending countless hours designing and hand-making many “theme” items.

In addition to church and golf, she was an avid gardener. She spent hours each summer planting and tending her flower gardens and her cascading pools where she kept her beautiful koi fish. She also loved to play cards and was a formidable opponent.

She will be remembered and loved by those fortunate enough to have known her for her quiet generosity and positive outlook on life; her unconditional love and loyalty to friends and family; and her deep and abiding faith in God.

Survivors include two daughters; three stepchildren; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rich Stoakes officiating.
