William P. “Bill” Hickman, 87, of Meadowlakes died Oct. 26, 2011. He was born in Texarkana, Ark., on Sept. 12, 1924, to Thomas and Margaret (James) Hickman.

He grew up in Louisiana and lived in several places during his career with Cities Service Oil Co. He retired after 33 years and moved to Mississippi. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Marble Falls.

He served in the Navy and Marines and graduated from Louisiana State University. He was an avid sports fan and golfer.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen; son Preston of Marble Falls; daughter Mary Starrak and husband Jim of Pleasanton; granddaughters Bonnie Starrak of Austin and Jayme Starrak of San Marcos; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom.

A service is 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 201 RR 1431 East in Marble Falls.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
