R.V. Burnes, 81, of Kingsland and formerly of Lometa, died Oct. 22, 2011, at his residence. He was born Aug. 21, 1930, to Joe Wilson Burnes Sr. and Callie Jane (Medley) Burnes in Lometa.

On Sept. 12, 1948, he married Patsy Ann Mathis in Lynn County.

He was a member of the Highland Lakes Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and traveling the United States.

Survivors include his wife of Kingsland; sons Ron Burnes and wife Anabel of Kingsland, and Roy Burnes and wife Arzenet of Eden; daughter Cindy Miller and husband Darryl of Kingsland; sister Azlee Neinast of Andrews; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; five sisters; and great-great-grandson Tristyn Ross.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. Oct. 29 at First Baptist Church in Kingsland with the reverends Ron Langley and Dwight Reagan officiating.

A graveside service is 3 p.m. at Long Cove Cemetery in Lometa.

Pallbearers include Jim Barton, Truitt Wren, John Raschke, Mark Chapman, Clarence Yarter and Danny Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland Lakes Baptist Church of Kingsland.
