MARBLE FALLS — Though the Marble Falls High School volleyball team lost in three straight sets to Pflugerville Connally Friday, the Lady Mustangs (16-17) made sure the big winner was the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Joining in the Fight Like A Girl, Fight For A Cure breast cancer research rally, Marble Falls invited fans to wear pink, buy items in a silent auction, play in a serving game for T-shirts, and purchase tickets for a 50-50 raffle.

The result was raising an estimated $1,000 that all went to the foundation. Even the Lady Cougars participated in the campaign by wearing pink and playing in the serving game.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Dallas-based Komen foundation is dedicated to education about breast cancer, research and treatment, but relies on donations and fundraisers.
