Marble Falls League to offer kickball, dodgeball and more
MARBLE FALLS — What started out as activities for Cain Grayson’s friends has turned into the Marble Falls League for people 30 and older who want to exercise.
“Basically, imagine a physical education class when you’re a kid,” he said. “It’s something like that. It’s revolving sports.”
The core sports are kickball, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, flag football, wiffle ball, dodgeball and soccer.
The length of each will be two months, Grayson said.
He hopes to the league start Nov. 1 and continue Tuesdays at Johnson Park, 230 S. Ave. J, with kickball.
“I’m not trying to compete with other leagues or step on toes,” he said. “I’m not trying to start a league to compete with anybody.”
Robert Moss, Parks and Recreation director for the City of Marble Falls, had talked to Cain and encouraged him to make a presentation to the Parks and Recreation Commission Oct. 10.
“The facility is on a per-use basis,” Moss said. “It’s a standard fee.”
Cost of using Johnson Park is $25 up to a day. If the field lights are used, it’s an additional $7.50 per hour.
Moss said he was pleased to offer another use for the city’s parks system.
“It’s expansion of recreational activities, and that’s what I’m into,” he said.
Registration fees still are being discussed, Cain said. He can be reached at (512) 553-2424 or at www.marblefallsleagues.com.
