Polly Thomas Amason, 95, of Kingsland died Oct. 2, 2011, in Marble Falls. She was born in Eden to John and Callie Thomas.

Her family later moved to Jones County in 1925.

She gave college a try before she married Joe T. Amason Sr. on Feb. 9, 1935, in Goldthwaite. They lived on their farm, where he died Sept. 24, 1976.

She always kept busy with her gardening, canning, freezing and sewing. She spent her life as a homemaker and later tried painting, which she loved. She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include sons Joe T. Amason Jr. and wife Saundra of Kingsland and Jerry R. Amason and wife Louise of Corpus Christi; grandchildren Joe T. Amason III and and wife Cay of Lancaster, S.C., Ronald E. Amason of Navasota, and Callie Amason Owen, Troy Owen and Alana Amason, all of Odessa; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Wilna Thomas of Austin and Esma Thomas of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers; and five sisters.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 5 at Starbucks Funeral Home, 201 Edwards St. in Merkel. A service is 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the funeral home with Chaplain Jeff Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
