Mack Henry Carter

Mack Henry Carter, 76, of Plano died Sept. 28, 2011, with his wife and children by his side. He was born in New Gulf on Aug. 8, 1935, to Claiborne H. and Virginia W. Carter.
He was a proud descendant of Texas pioneers John and Sarah Lytton. When he was a young boy, the family moved to the Hill Country, beginning his lifelong love for the area and its people. He was a 1954 graduate of Marble Falls High School and spent the following summer as a cowboy in Wyoming. He attended Tarleton and Texas State universities and served in the Army.
In 1959, he married Marylin Kay Maroney in Austin. They were blessed with children, in-laws, grandchildren and many friendships that lasted all the years they were together.
He enjoyed a 35-year career in the lumber business, which began with Georgia Pacific in San Antonio. In 1972, the family moved to Plano after he was hired by Slaughter Lumber Co. in Dallas.
The family shared many good times with friends and loved ones, which include the family of friends who have worshipped with them at Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Plano. The Carters were founding members of the church, and he was humbled and honored to serve as the first deacon of the church for 38 years.
He was baptized when he was a boy and only occasionally went to church until 1966 when he began a close relationship with the Lord and dedicated his life to him for the remainder of his years.
Survivors include his wife Marylin; daughters Kelly Carter St. Clair and husband Doug, Kara Ann Carter Trainor and husband Tim and Amy Beth Carter; son Kyle Patrick Carter and wife Tina Benson Carter; grandchildren Marylin Ann, Mason Paul and Meredith Dawn St. Clair and Mack Henry and Tommy Gee Carter; sisters J. Lind Mayles and Bonnie S. Huckabay; and brother-in-law Mike Maroney and wife Ann.
A service is 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Prairie Creek Baptist Church, 3201 W. 15th St. in Plano.
Memorials may be made to Harris Hospice, 522 S. Edmunds Lane, Suite 103, Lewisville, TX 75067.
The family thanks Debbie Larson and Janelle Wills for their loving care.
