MARBLE FALLS — Teams and players gain confidence in a variety of ways. One of the best ways is winning a contest that the victorious team led from start to finish.

That’s what happened with the Marble Falls High School volleyball team in defeating Leander Rouse 25-22, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23 on Sept. 30.

Head coach Julie Downs praised her players for their heart.

“The Lady Mustangs showed a tremendous amount of hustle and determination in an effort to achieve the win and recapture something from the district season,” she said.

The Lady Mustangs (16-14, 2-4) got the final point of the match from an unlikely source — junior libero Stephanie Garcia.

Leading 24-23, Garcia dived for a dig. The ball went over the net and fell in a hole left by the Rouse defense.
