TAYLOR — The Burnet Middle School seventh-grade volleyball teams recently split contests at Taylor.

The B team swept Taylor 25-6, 25-12, while the A team lost 24-26, 17-25.

The B team received the serve at the start of the first game and quickly gained control of the game, coaches said.

Julia Taylor fired off seven straight points to put Burnet in the lead. Shea Henry also produced seven points at the end to bring the score to 23-5.

The Lady Pups went into the second game with great momentum and took the game in a hurry as well, coaches said.

Taylor, Henry and Samantha Hawkins were the top servers.

The A team took a 4-0 lead to begin the contest but gave away six straight points as the Lady Pups were having trouble receiving the ball and suffered through a lack of communication.

The Lady Pups tried to fight their way back but were not able to do it, coaches said.

The second game started off badly for Burnet as the obstacles they had in the first game resurfaced.

Coaches said they showed more aggression in the second game but struggled with serve-receive.

Kendall Rex and Lexey Parker were the top servers.
