Lady Jackets lose district opener

LLANO — The Llano High School volleyball team lost to Burnet 11-25, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25 on Sept. 23 in the District 25-3A opener.

“A very disappointing loss for the first district ball game,” head coach Shawn Sweeten Meredith said. “Burnet dug well. It was difficult to exploit any of their weaknesses. They did an excellent job of reading our attacks and then moving to the ball.”

Senior outside hitter Jessica Wunderlich led the Lady Jackets (4-25, 0-1) with 13 kills followed by senior outside hitter Cierra Jordan with 12.

Senior setter Paige Friedrich recorded 28 assists, while senior middle blocker Victoria Calzoncit had four blocks. Jordan had 19 digs and two aces.
